This is More Than a Convention.
This is Ours.
The HBCU National Band and Orchestra Directors’ Consortium Convention is the only concert band convention dedicated entirely to HBCU programs, our students, our traditions, our sound, and our future.
For generations, HBCU bands have shaped American music, culture, and excellence. We have trained world-class musicians, educators, composers, and leaders who continue to impact stages far beyond the yard. This convention exists to celebrate that legacy, strengthen our collective voice, and invest in the next chapter of HBCU band culture.
When we come together, we do more than attend sessions, we affirm our shared purpose. We exchange ideas rooted in our lived experiences. We uplift exemplary musicianship that thrives within our institutions. We support an organization that exists for us and because of us.
Attendance isn’t just about numbers.
It’s about visibility, sustainability, and unity.
It’s about ensuring that HBCU concert bands are not overlooked, but recognized, resourced, and respected.
If you believe in:
Preserving and advancing HBCU band culture
Showcasing the excellence of our students and directors
Building community across institutions
Strengthening the future of HBCU music education
Then your presence matters.
Show up for the culture.
Show up for the music.
Show up for each other.
This is our space.
This is our sound.
This is our moment.
